Flea Market at Ifafa Beach

We, members of the social department of Independence Commission Africa NPO, are hosting a charity flea market at Ifafa Beach as part of our South Coast Food Drive project, to draw in funds for the two children’s Xmas parties we are hosting on the south coast, KZN.  as well as giving stall holders and vendors an opportunity to stimulate their business sales.

This beach is unspoilt by city life, as it is quite rural. Marine life in this ocean is abundant, and fishermen love their on shore fishing here.

There is a large grass field in front of the Ifafa Beach,  often used by the local kids for their soccer games.

There is ample space for vendors and stall holders to put up gazebos, or park their vehicles to allow car boot sales. This stretch of grass along side the beach, carries on for at least 5km.

Across the road from this grass field. stands the ifafa Beach Hotel, the only hotel in the area. The hotelier has agreed to allow vendors to utilize the conference room as an indoor venue, and will also allow the public to utilise the inhouse toilets on the day of the event.

As this is the first flea market, we are unsure what to expect, and therefore will not be charging the outdoor vendors any stall fees, hoping that they would be able to donate an amount suitable to them, from their sales, should they have a good day. The indoor vendors must pay a R50 fee per table for their space, as the usage of this venue, will carry costs to the hotelier as well.

South Coast Food Drive  has team leaders in various villages along the south coast, which provide members who are financially stricken, with food throughout the year, where possible. Two Xmas parties for  children have been planned, the one venue, will be in Southport, and the other will be on the Ifafa Beach itself. We are planning to provide about 130 children with gifts and edibles for Xmas.

We are also running a separate event for Sassa pensioners of the Bendigo area, which is not part of this particular event.
